The most wonderful time of the year

The holidays are just around the corner and here I am, in my tiny corner of the world, healing post-operation. That’s right. I recently had an operation. The past couple of days had been quite a rollercoaster. It was my first time to undergo surgery, and a major one, at that!

So many things were running inside my head days prior to the surgery, the night before it, the few hours before it, and during the operation. After it, I was pretty much asleep. To be honest, I wanted to cry more about the needles that poked me and prodded my veins. I am not new to getting IV fluids, but lately it’s been getting more and more challenging to have needles inserted. Something to do with my veins, I was told. It took them seven tries before they finally (and successfully, although temporarily) managed to insert a needle in each hand. The stitches and my lower back where anesthesia was placed were not hurting too much, thanks to the pain relievers.

I’m currently taking it slow and easy. Nothing too strenuous. I shouldn’t even climb up and down the stairs, but I can walk around a few times a day as a form of exercise. Enough talk about the operation, though, because guess what? I have a new short horror story, an upcoming newsletter on writing and living the creative life, as well as some kdrama merch. And we all know this blog wouldn’t be complete if there are no mentions of kdrama.

Let’s get to it!

Skipped September, new blog layout, and spooky season plans

Hola! What in “The X-Files” throwback is this layout? Kapjagi wae? Look, it’s past 5 in the morning (a Saturday, too, at that) and I just finished re-watching “The Haunting of Bly Manor.” Also, I just started reading “We Have Always Lived in the Castle” by Shirley Jackson. (Aside: I think I’m in love with the name Mary Katherine and the nickname, Merricat, given to that character.)

Me and my remain two brain cells are struggling as I type this down and, well… *scratches the back of my neck* This is not going well. My mind is not completely working right now. You would not believe all the typos here, if only it wasn’t saved by autocorrect.

Anyhoo. Enough blathering. Let’s dive right into the good stuff.

Ob-la-di ob-la-da. It’s a long weekend, yaaaahh!

Hello there, fine folks who tumbled down the rabbit hole and found my little space in this corner of the internet! I’m honored and pleased to have you as my guest here. Please, do take a seat. Never mind the cobwebs. They’re harmless reminders that I haven’t really been blogging lately.

Today’s menu (not in chronological order, because we like to get wild and crazy over here):

We’ve got aliens, a funny but true (and relatable!) video on creative anxiety and procrastination, my new favorite album, and a sprinkle of horror. 👻 Without further ado, let’s get on with the show! Erm, I mean blog post.

I’m not dead, just on a break

And just like that, October is coming to a close. Who else is excited about Halloween and all things horror? I’m not going trick or treating, but you bet I’ll be watching some horror series or movies!

I’ve been thinking of joining NaNoWriMo this year. I have a rough outline of the story, but it’s not 100% complete. I do have my dream cast all set in my head, though. 😁 Like “The Secret Wife”, its setting is in the fictional Maroon City. Unlike “The Secret Wife”, this one is a romantic thriller.

I can’t wait to talk more about this, but all in good time. There’s still a lot to prepare, more on my writing process and workflow. I want this year’s NaNoWriMo entry to have things like a Pinterest mood board, Spotify playlist, and Instagram posts and stories. All the fun stuff!

Kicking off September: Current favorite kdramas and some horror recs

September kicked off with a rainy weather. Not complaining because I really could use a cooler weather. My 17 year-old self who lived for summertime would roll her eyes, but I’d take rainy days over hot ones now, thank you very much.

This side of the world, entering the “ber” months practically means Christmas season. Just last night, a radio station played three Christmas songs in a row. At past three in the morning. If that isn’t the true spirit of Christmas in September, I don’t know what is. 😆
