Today things: Horror recs podcast + movies edition

Ohai! I am starting off this post with a sun-infused weekend hello. It’s pretty cloudy and at 31°C. I’m surprised it feels cooler than that. But I’m not complaining. I’ve been in a pretty weird time frame of creative projects. For the most part, I feel like time seems oh-so-slow the past weeks. I’m guessing it’s because while I am thrilled to be working on multiple creative endeavors all at once, personal problems keep resurfacing. I wish I’m in a better headspace but I do what I can and have to do. Otherwise I’m going to spiral down if I don’t watch out for myself.

But enough sad TMI.

I’ve been consuming words a lot lately ó mostly from newsletters and Medium articles. I love learning new things and getting lost in the world of fiction. When I’m not reading, I am catching up on my current favorite kdramas: “Alchemy of Souls” and “Adamas.” I’ve tried watching “Today’s Webtoon” and while it’s funny and even touching, I’m not entirely invested in it. I used to love “Cafe Minamdang” but that one has fallen off my radar of interest, too. This is clearly a case of “It’s not you it’s me.” because both kdramas are pretty good. I guess I’m just not in the mood for them at this point. Who knows? I’ll probably circle back to them soon. I mean, like I (almost) always say: stranger things have happened.

Radio Silence Finally Broken

The last time I blogged, it was about Lay Zhang shirtless, only because Pinterest keeps recommending me those photos. Lay’s sexiest part of the body is his brain, if you ask me. Especially when he’s creating songs. I know Pinterest means well when it keeps recommending me shirtless photos of him, so we’ll leave it at that. But yeah. That man creates, arranges, and produces his own songs. My current favorite is an old track of his called “Peach” because it’s fun and upbeat. A really good tune to listen to while I exercise.

More than two months had passed since I last blogged. What have I been doing during that (unplanned, really) radio silence? I wish I could give a cohesive answer, because I’d like to know, too.

Tears, Beers, and Candles

It’s been raining nearly all week. The night sky is starless. The wind cool and soothing. As I type this down, a vanilla-scented candle is wafting its sweet scent and I feel grounded. Almost at peace, if only my mind would learn to quiet down once in a while.

While no tears were shed this week (unless you count tears of laughter, which this household never seem to run out of in regular doses) and no beers were consumed (except for honey water, which I’m having right now), I am happy to report that the cedar wood vanilla candle from Bath & Body Works is really making me feel all calm and relaxed, in spite of the week-long rain and the dangers it posed.

June Heat: Words, Strawberry Milk, and “Memoir of a Murderer”

I am writing this all down in the midst of drilling sounds and after finishing reading “Standing Firmly at 24” by Zhang Yixing/Lay Zhang of EXO. It’s been a weekend of waking up earlier than usual and running errands, but also of unwinding and finding more time doing what I love. The little things surprise me and I am grateful for it.
