August, autumn feels, and audacious random thoughts

Do you smell that? It’s the fresh scent of August. I like this month because it’s one month closer to the beginning of the “ber” (brr!) months – September and its friends.

How have you all been doing, fine folks of this internet world? I hope you’ve been faring better than I am. The bad news is that everything in my head is just this constant flurry of thoughts and things and dreams. My brain never shuts up, for better or for worse. The good news is that I finally found this time to sit myself down and write this post, which is long overdue.

Without further ado, let’s get this ball rolling.

After Dark Dispatch: Featured frenemies in “Doctor Slump” kdrama, a multi-hyphen life, and yet another story in the making

January’s closed. A done deal. February waltzed into the scene faster than I could say, “Stop!” For the most part, I still pause every time I type or write “2024.” That’s the general state of my mind this year.

In the past couple of days, I managed to get sick and overwrite my blog. Thank goodness for modern medicine and automated back-ups. I am forever grateful for those two. Meanwhile, I am going to have a talk with my remaining two brain cells.

Also, what do you think of my new header? I have fully embraced my persona as a millennial kdrama girl. 😁 But let’s talk about other things that spark joy and creativity. I mean, the world could have more of those, right?

Naming one thing + November inspiration, with a side of revenge kdramas

November started off like any other months this year: Unassuming. I wasn’t expecting life-altering news, but I also wasn’t expecting this month to be a playground of creativity. I’m not complaining, though. This month, I joined NaNoWriMo. I even talked at length about that here, theme song included. I was excited and ready, all bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. Except that the more November shed its days, the more I realized that I will never reach the 50k word count by month’s end. Will I continue to write “Love % Of”, though? Oh, absolutely. I just won’t be waving my first draft in triumph this month.

Take what works and leave the rest

Half of the year just went by in the blink of an eye. 2023, liked all the years before it, started with fireworks, enthusiastic cheers, and equally enthusiastic whoops and yells. Now it’s early August and I’ve been hearing some AM radio stations playing Christmas songs. 🎄 At this rate, Christmas will be in the air by September and I’m not complaining. Hohohoho!

Aside: I spent the last week of July away from work. Not for a vacation. Not for a grand birthday celebration. More for hibernation. 😆 I slept early and slept in most of those days. It was DELICIOUS. Sleeping/napping is always delicious. 😁

Tears, Beers, and Candles

It’s been raining nearly all week. The night sky is starless. The wind cool and soothing. As I type this down, a vanilla-scented candle is wafting its sweet scent and I feel grounded. Almost at peace, if only my mind would learn to quiet down once in a while.

While no tears were shed this week (unless you count tears of laughter, which this household never seem to run out of in regular doses) and no beers were consumed (except for honey water, which I’m having right now), I am happy to report that the cedar wood vanilla candle from Bath & Body Works is really making me feel all calm and relaxed, in spite of the week-long rain and the dangers it posed.
