Others hang out in Starbucks as their choice of place to work or unwind. Me? It’s the nearby grocery store’s food court.
There is something oddly satisfying about plunking down my butt on one of their thinly cushioned steel chairs as I help myself to some food while I watch a kdrama or cdrama. (Recently I’ve been watching “Love is Sweet” as I wait for my current kdramas to air their most recent episodes.)
The food court is small and I think I tried everything they have to offer, save for a stall or two. My favorites are definitely the takoyaki and siomai stalls. I gulp it down with a plastic cup of gulaman and I am happy.
Sometimes I go grocery shopping because we need stuff. Sometimes also because I secretly buy things that I think will help us in case the zombie apocalypse starts. I know we need all those canned food.
My birthday is nearing but I was never one for posting its celebration. Ever since I hit my late 30s, it just feels like any ordinary day. I mean, I was born on that day. It’s not like I’m Mahatma Ghandi or Sylvia Plath or Shakespeare. And I don’t want to spiral into thoughts like why do I exist, what am I even doing here, etc. For some reason, when I go into a kind of funky mood, I remember Holden Caulfield. It’s like I hear him narrating my thoughts and feelings at that moment. I don’t like wallowing in that funky mood, though.
My sister had asked me what cake do I want? I tell her she can just get a generic cake from Goldilocks or Red Ribbon. The pre-made one where they just slap on your greeting of choice. It may not be the fanciest cake but it’s quite yummy. But my sister wouldn’t have it. Bless her generous heart. So we started searching for cakes and I settled for a cake decorated with butterflies. Why butterflies? I was never fond of them but at that time I was watching “Nevertheless” and the word/name Na-bi got stuck on me. Also: Song Kang. Enough said. *tee-hee*
I am officially declaring that all Christmas and birthday gifts for me can be made by donating to Philippine Animal Rescue Team. If you’re outside the Philippines and wish to donate ❤️(bless your kind heart) please head on over to this page. They accept donations via PayPal. Thank you so so much in advance if you do donate to them.
I hope you’re having a nice and chill or fun weekend. Whatever it is you’re doing, I hope you’re happy.
