Is it too early in the weekend to start referencing a 90s song? Okay how about this instead: How is it July already? No scratch that. How is it the middle of July already? Sometimes I have to pinch myself to make sure I’m not in the middle of a time slip. I swear I left my brains back in February, when I told myself I’ll start going back to exercising regularly and not sporadically so I’d lose at least 5 kilograms by July. HAHA JOKE’S ON ME.
Some things have changed and yet so much remained the same. COVID-19 is still here, for one thing. I still haven’t lost 5 kilograms, that’s another thing. And I still think Lay is the one of the sexiest men alive, which I doubt will ever change. At least not in my book. Oh! And so. much. great. kdramas. *chef’s kiss*
So it’s a boy
Let it be officially declared that our family has adopted another dog to add to our already chaotic household. We were all like, “Yeah. We’re not having enough daily stress and chaos. Let’s go ahead and take him in.” And lo and behold! Stress and chaos he did bring. We all took turns complaining about this rambunctious puppy who is very verbal and will make known his happiness his excitement and any other emotions that he feels warrants a series of loud – VERY LOUD – yapping. He is a small but terrible pup. Is he a headache a cause of broken sleep and of shoes strewn carelessly all over the house? Yes, yes, and yes. Do we love him though? Yes, very much so.
Breakfast with a side of Zithromax
I’ve been feeling unwell the past couple of days. Nearly a whole week. Talking to my doctor helped ease my worries. And the meds he prescribed made me feel better. (My wallet begs to differ, though.) Thank God I work from home. Imagine if I had to commute going to and from the office in this state. And spending 9 hours in the office like this. *shudder*
I haven’t felt this sick since 2019, when I was in Taiwan with some friends. It was December back when the news about COVID-19 hadn’t even begun to spread. There I was out of country and with the flu. The slight fever didn’t bother me. It was all the coughing. I thought I’d be coughing my lungs out until we head back home, and all I had with me was Panadol for my medicine. I drank all the fruit juice that was available. Ate what salad I can buy from the neighborhood Family Mart. And slept as much as I can during those days I was feeling unwell. It was a lesson learned for me: I really can’t go walking around too much. My body isn’t built for all those power walking anymore. Plus I got rained on. Nice. (But yes I had a wonderful wonderful time there. I plan on going back as soon as I can.)
Kdrama things
The kdrama world is filled with many tropes. The two main leads being connected during their childhood. The truck of doom. The enemies-to-lovers or the best friends-to-lovers story. Poor girl ending up with a rich but arrogant and mean but also a softie with *gasp!* many surprisingly redeeming qualities once you get to know him better.
I am all smiles and heart eyes as I report to you that I am currently waddling knee-deep in the following kdramas listed below. While these haven’t escaped from one or more tropes, they are still delightful and thrilling to watch. I think I don’t get tired of kdramas because they always find new ways to put a fresh spin on tropes.
- Alchemy of Souls (currently my favorite)
- Jinxed at First (I dropped this on the 8th episode though.)
- Link: Eat Love Kill (second favorite!)
- Cafe Minamdang (Comedy is over the top but I am digging it. The gang at “Cafe Minamdang” reminds me of the ghosts in “From Now , Showtime!” with their shenanigans and hilarious antics. I need more of this type of characters. The merry band of misfits.)
The week in photo
I am now signing off. My meds kdramas and horror podcasts are calling my name and who am I to say no? We’re in the middle of another weekend. I hope you’re having a blast wherever you are.
