I need to stop trying to sleep early during the weekend, only to wake up at past 3 AM, and then go back to sleep at 8 or 9 AM, body sore and exhausted. Even though all I did was watch a kdrama or two (or a hundred) and then doom scroll through my phone. Anybody else go through this?
As I type this, I have finished the first episode of “Chicken Nugget” kdrama, played a bit of Sim City Build It, organized around 30 out of 7,567 photos in my phone, and had some rice and sisig tofu + Milo. Would I start another study session on Korean language? Maybe. My brain cells aren’t themselves when lacking sleep at past 3 in the morning. Next thing I know, I’ll be contacting aliens. *cue “The X-Files” intro music*

“Chicken Nugget” kdrama
This kdrama is quirky, funny, and reminds me of a Haruki Murakami book. Imagine the girl you like vanishing inside a piece of contraption and then turning into a… a piece of chicken nugget right before your eyes, which is what Ko Baek Jeong experienced, much to his horror. Now switch to the daughter’s father’s POV: Imagine going to the restroom for a moment, just a moment, and you come back to find that your beloved only daughter has turned in a chicken nugget.
“Chicken Nugget” kdrama is so unserious and silly, and I’m here for it. I mean, I just watched the first episode and I’m already sold. I want to know: What will happen next? Will the daughter stay as a chicken nugget or come back to being human? AND HOW? So many questions and I need them answers. Plus, that office setting, that environment, those three goofus employees? I am so in.
Luckily, it’s only ten episodes short and I have all Sunday to bingewatch this. Kdramaland, I am ready. *cracks knuckles, wiggles fingers*
Earworm
There’s something about these lyrics that just hit me, be it 3 in the morning or not. It gives me heartbreak. It makes me want to cry. And I’m not even dating anyone. This song is that good, folks.
Now it's eight o'clock and I'm waiting on
This good guy to come pick me up
I just wanna have a good night
He's pulling up, oh my God, I see the headlights
And he opens my door but his car isn't yours
Kdrama crush, big time
Folks, please meet Park Hyung Sik, an actor from South Korea. He’s also in a kpop group called ZE:A, too. If you’re just starting with Korean drama or kdrama, please don’t miss out on “Strong Woman Do Bong Soon.” It’s a romantic comedy filled with laughter and shenanigans. It’s also the first kdrama of Park Hyung Sik that I’ve watched. Another one of my favorite drama of his is “Happiness.” Don’t let the title fool you, though. Sure, there is happiness and some romance in this kdrama, but you have to go through zombies and horrible neighbors first. (More of that here.)
And last, but not the least: “Doctor Slump“, his most recent kdrama that’s currently being aired on Netflix. This has to be my next favorite after “Happiness.” It’s got everything: romance, comedy, drama, heartwarming scenes about family and life. I really highly recommend it. This is the kdrama that made me crush on this guy, all six feet of him. I’ve watched behind-the-scenes of “Doctor Slump” and noticed that his co-star, the cute and beautiful Park Shin Hye, always seemed to be laughing during their takes. His sense of humor must be great, too. It’s official: I’m in love. 😆
This week in just one photo
And that’s it for me. I hope you’re all having a blast and that March has been treating you well. Keep going, keep living, get plenty of sleep, have good and nourishing meals, and stay hydrated.
