And just like that, October is coming to a close. Who else is excited about Halloween and all things horror? I’m not going trick or treating, but you bet I’ll be watching some horror series or movies!
I’ve been thinking of joining NaNoWriMo this year. I have a rough outline of the story, but it’s not 100% complete. I do have my dream cast all set in my head, though. 😁 Like “The Secret Wife”, its setting is in the fictional Maroon City. Unlike “The Secret Wife”, this one is a romantic thriller.
I can’t wait to talk more about this, but all in good time. There’s still a lot to prepare, more on my writing process and workflow. I want this year’s NaNoWriMo entry to have things like a Pinterest mood board, Spotify playlist, and Instagram posts and stories. All the fun stuff!
Tina CMS. I spent about 1/4 of my day off from work setting it up (locally). I wanted a faster website and thought this might be the answer. Only to realize once I was done that I actually needed some of the bells and whistles that WordPress offers. I’ll probably use Tina CMS for another website project, where it’s more suited. We’ll see how that goes. If coding and front-end web development are also your jam, you can start playing around with it here.
Polywork. I swear I spent my days off playing around with geeky things and Polywork is one of them. I love how I can shout out in the internet both work and non-work stuff in such a neat and cool way. 😎 I’d love to tweak the design, but my bank account is yelling at me, “With what money?!!” *le sigh!*
Because I rarely watch Korean drama/kdrama nowadays, I’ve had more time to read webtoons. Half of them are romcoms; the other half thriller and horror. Great stuff. Some of the webtoons I would recommend if you’re into horror and thriller, too:
“The Guy Upstairs”
Rozy has the sneaking suspicion that her upstairs neighbor is a serial killer. As if that isn’t bad enough, said neighbor has made moves on her long-time best friend. It’s now a battle of wits as Roxy tries to expose the killer and make sure her best friend doesn’t get killed in the process.
“Webtoon at Midnight”
The supernatural isn’t the only thing that’s scary. Humans can be scarier. “I like to crash funerals because it makes me feel alive” is part of this series, and the protagonist is unhinged. He does disturbing things where funerals and the dead are concerned.
Right now, there are only two stories, but it’s a horror anthology so expect more to come. “Webtoon at Midnight” has just started, with only six episodes out as I publish this. It’s a perfect bite-sized read just before nodding off to the land of the zzz.
“Hell is Other People”
A young man rents a small room in a run-down apartment and soon finds out that his creepy neighbors might have something to do with the disappearances of some tenants. Read if you’re ready for some stress and anxiety. 😬
This series was turned into a kdrama and it was a great watch: all taut and tense. Watching it gave me stress, but I loved it.
“Night Fishing”
When the protagonist’s brother goes missing, he runs into night fishermen. Sounds pretty harmless, right? Not if those night fishermen are fishing for dead bodies in Han River. And not if they now added you to their bucket list.
If you want more horror webtoons, I made a post about that here.
Halloween is just around the corner. Since I’m too old to go trick or treating, I’ll be watching a horror movie or two, with my favorite food in hand. Anyone else here does that, eating while watching? I’m a big mood eater, so my food varies each time I watch something, whether it’s a horror movie or an Asian drama.
Well! I hope you’re enjoying your weekend. Advanced Happy Halloween! 🎃 👻
