A little over a year into lockdown and I am actually… liking it? *gasp!* There really is something to be said (and more) about working from home, especially with an introvert like me. I can never be a social media influencer because My Daily Life, Pandemic Edition TM is pretty much this list:
- sleeping
- working
- watching kdramas (I live for murder mysteries and horror.)
- reading
- writing
- taking naps
- dabbling into other creative outputs (e.g. creating collages, writing journals, creating website stuff, etc.)
I spend 90% of my daily life in my bedroom, where my work desk is also located. I have become so pale that my sister literally gawked at me one time, when I went downstairs, and exclaimed in utter disbelief about how pale I looked. Note to self: Wake up early in the morning and spend at least 20 minutes under the sun. Otherwise, I expect to wake up one day with two pointy fangs and a thirst for blood. 😆
Lockdown life isn’t so bad, especially the work from home set-up. Here are my top three reasons why:
Say good bye to commuting

Here is what my commute looked like before the lockdown: I allot a total of 2.5 to 3 hours for my commute going to the office. If my shift starts at 2:00 PM, I wake up some time between 10:30 AM and 11:00 AM. When I get off work at, say, 11 PM then I arrive home after 2 hours. I’m lucky if I get 1.5 hours, because that means that the van and the bus I ride are available right away and filled pretty quickly. Throw in heat, long lines, and cramped spaces into the mix. Commuting was never a fun thing. I was already tired before even starting work and then I was exhausted by the time I arrived back home past midnight. So yeah. Commuting to and from work? Definitely something I don’t miss about my pre-lockdown life.
No more shared bathrooms

Oh okay. I share the bathroom here at home with my sister but you get the idea. I can now answer the call of nature in peace. I don’t have to find myself in that awkward moment of hearing a stranger talk about how she caught her boyfriend with another woman, in their apartment! No less! I also no longer have to hear one or two other people conversing while they poop. 😅
Lunch hours are more fun

There’s something nice and fun about being able to do a half hour exercise when lunch time rolls right in. And then having another half hour dedicated solely for taking a shower. I come back to my tasks and projects for the day feeling all pumped up and fresh. Yay for this kind of lunch breaks!
How’s lockdown life going for you? I can count with one hand the number of times I went out for “non-essential” purposes. Exhibit A: This jjimjilbang we went to last December. It was awesome and I wish I could go back there soon.

I do miss going out sometimes, when the mood to do so strikes. My biggest regret so far is that my Thailand trip had been indefinitely postponed. For now, though, I am content in staying holed up in my room, drowning in kdramas.
