Do you smell that? It’s the fresh scent of August. I like this month because it’s one month closer to the beginning of the “ber” (brr!) months – September and its friends.
How have you all been doing, fine folks of this internet world? I hope you’ve been faring better than I am. The bad news is that everything in my head is just this constant flurry of thoughts and things and dreams. My brain never shuts up, for better or for worse. The good news is that I finally found this time to sit myself down and write this post, which is long overdue.
Without further ado, let’s get this ball rolling.
“The Secret Wife” now has a new story being published alongside it, “Nocturnal Echoes”
Also, I was finally able to publish new episodes of my romantic comedy series, “The Secret Wife.” Yay! And guess what? I now have 5 members in my Patreon account! *screams excitedly into the void* That means 5 more pairs of eyes are able to read my stories. Yep, STORIES. You read that right: in plural form. Because guess what again? I have started publishing another story!!! It’s a supernatural thriller this time, called “Nocturnal Echoes.” I guess you can tell from all those exclamation points that I’m pretty stoked about it. And why not? It’s got nightmares, frightening road trips, and supernatural creatures.
Both of these are ongoing, with free episodes for each story. Think of them as samplers, so that if you find that you like them enough, then you might want to consider becoming a paying member. For only $1 a month, you get to read both stories. 🙂 You can check out the links for the free episodes below.
Autumn feels, Edinburgh style
Has anyone else here also fallen into the TikTok rabbit hole full of videos of Edinburgh in autumn? I, for one, am so enchanted and in love with those kinds of videos. 😍 If money were no object, I’d move there in a heartbeat.
More creative project ideas! As if I’m not already drowning in my current ones!
I’ve been talking to a friend and it turns out that she was thinking of starting a [bleep!]1, too! I don’t want to spill the beans just yet, but I do want to share that this is something I’m thrilled about. Just thinking about it, talking about it with my friend, and envisioning the actual output is already making me smile.
We don’t know yet when this will happen, but the ideas are there; the plans are rough but they’ve been finally discussed. All I can share with you folks right now are these two words: horror, relationships. 🙃
[1] word redacted for an element of surprise. Fret not, folks. I will share all in good time, whether our pans actually push through or not.
“Miss Night and Day” is the kdrama I didn’t know I wanted
“Miss Night and Day” is definitely the dark horse of current kdramas for me. It started really slow that I even stopped watching around episode two. Floundering around after that, I was ping-ponging between reading a horror book and watching “The Mysterious Class” kdrama. Once the latter was done, I picked up where I left off with “Miss Night and Day.” I’M SO GLAD I DID.
This kdrama has a female lead, Lee Mi Jin, who changes to an ahjumma during the day and then turns back to her regular 28-year-old self when the sun sets. Her ahjumma version gets hired to work in a prosecutor’s office, where she finds herself working for the cold but actually kind-hearted prosecutor, Gye Ji Ung. There’s a mysterious case to solve and a serial killer to catch, all while Mi Jin must be able to keep her big secret from getting spilled. Throw into the plot a popular celebrity who’s working in the same building as them both, who’s suffering from PTSD because of a stalker who, coincidentally, is related to the case that Mi Jin and Ji Ung are trying to solve.
“Miss Night and Day” is a kdrama full of well-timed humor and great characters. (Mi Jin’s parents are just 😂 and I love her best friend’s personality.) There’s never a boring episode, especially whenever Mi Jin and Ji Ung are in the same scene. I highly recommend this kdrama if you’re looking to watch something funny with a bit of mystery in it, whether you’re a seasoned kdrama watcher or someone who’s just beginning to get their feet wet in the kdramaland of piggyback rides, comical or overbearing parents (no in-between!), and the white truck of doom.
I also talk about this kdrama in the latest issue of my kdrama newsletter, Kdrama Girl. Go check that one out (and even subscribe!) if kdrama is also your thing. 😁
And that’s it for me today, folks! I do hope you enjoyed this post. I’ll try to post more soon. Until then, please keep supporting my writings by either visiting my blog right here, subscribing to my kdrama newsletter and/or Patreon, or following me on Instagram.
I hope your weekend was lovely. ✨ A brand new week is upon us and I wish you nothing but no-meetings Monday and a week that is chill and calm in general. Think of a slow-moving lake during summer, with the sky so blue you should avert your eyes but also bask in its beauty, with a soft but cool breeze caressing you once in a while. I wish you that kind of week. 🤍
